STAR WARS JEDI: FALLEN ORDER

SENIOR LEVEL DESIGNER

I joined Respawn as a senior level designer and was assigned to work on a puzzle dungeon that sadly did not ship. Levels getting cut is a big part of game development and although disappointing at the time, it also presents new opportunities that led me to working with Jamie Uhrmacher on Bracca, the first planet in the game. Bracca needed some additional level design support to help get it to the quality needed to make a big first impression so I took over the moving train section of the level, taking it from blockout to shippable quality.

BRACCA

Technical set pieces with complex scripting? Now you’re talking my language. I love building levels that prioritize experience over sprawling layouts. For this train level, I used the classic scrolling-background trick; art, lighting, VFX, and audio brought it to life. I took it from blockout to ship.

DATHOMIR / TOMB OF KUJET

Even though my puzzle dungeon was cut, removing it meant several sections of the dungeon had to remain in order to ensure the game would still flow. The Tomb of Kujet is what remains, including several rooms and a boss arena. I am glad to see some of my work still make it into the final game.
